PASTORAL VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

 

Morning Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church located in Montgomery, Alabama has been blessed to be a faithful beacon of light in the community for over 115 years. Morning Pilgrim is praying to God as we seek a Spirit-filled pastor for our congregation. The candidate must be spiritually led to proclaim the Word of God and possess strong teaching and preaching skills while serving the congregation and the community. In addition, the candidate must be compassionate and caring, person-oriented and trustworthy and have a forward-thinking vision for the church with a genuine calling from God to minister, counsel, and lead God’s people toward righteous living. The candidate should have Godly values, lives and is guided by the scriptural principles found in 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:5-9.

The Pastor will be expected to effectively guide the church’s spiritual growth, provide Christian leadership and be proficient at providing pastoral care to the sick and shut-in, the congregation and community. Additionally, the pastor will be responsible for growing the church ministries: family, seniors, young adult, children, community outreach and attract more worshippers. The Pastor will also serve as a representative for the congregation in denominational or community organizations and activities to learn new ways that the church can support and engage with the surrounding area.

 

 

THE FOLLOWING ARE QUALIFICATIONS WE ARE SEEKING IN OUR NEW PASTOR:

  • Must be a licensed and ordained minister in the Baptist faith
  • Must have a minimum of 5-9 years of pastoral experience as a senior or assistant/associate pastor
  • Must have exceptional written and oral communication skills
  • Must be willing to work effectively with the congregation across ALL ages and genders
  • Theological Seminary degree preferred
  • Must demonstrate financial awareness and responsibility
  • Must have a strong commitment to create and implement activities for our youth and young adults
  • Must be able to deal effectively with conflict
  • Must have the professional ability to plan and prioritize tasks, demonstrate exceptional organizational skills, and be able to keep members’ personal information 

 

MANDATORY DOCUMENTS

  • Cover letter stating your interest in the position and why you believe God is calling you to Morning Pilgrim
  • Current photo and a resume that provides a detailed history of pastoral, ministry, educational and professional experiences
  • Copy of Certificate of Ordination
  • Copy of Minister’s License
  • Copy of State Driver’s License
  • Copy of Theological Seminary Degree; (if applicable)
  • Three letters of recommendation: one from clergy, lay person, and personal (not a relative)

 

Candidates selected as a finalist must consent to criminal background, credit history, character reference, and child abuse clearance checks.
